From time to time, I will share historical or esoterical information about the medieval Scandinavia and about the diverse themes brought to fore by Askrinn (runes, myths, characters and so on).
Probably some of you already know it, but it is quite of a common misconception : Vikings had no horned helmets.
In fact, some of them have possibly been used for ceremonies, as ornaments, but you can right away forget the picture of the Northern warrior wearing such an artifact : there is no archeological proof of it.
This mistake actually comes from diverse authors and artists, in particular during the 19th century, such as the costume designers for Wagner's Nibelungenlied.
